BLACKSMITHING FOR BEGINNERS

Event description

If you've ever wanted to try blacksmithing, here's your chance. Only 5 spots are available for this rare opportunity to learn this ancient art in the beautiful garden workshop at the Lismore Art Space.

Class Project: Pair of Decorative S Hooks
You will learn about different forge types before we fire-up a coke fuelled forge to explore different blacksmithing techniques of twisting and "drawing-out" steel to create your unique pair of S hooks.

What to Bring and Wear
Please bring or buy PPE required for the class:
- Dust mask,
- Safety goggles or spectacles,
- Ear muffs or ear plugs (class 5 minimum),
- Work gloves
The above items can be bought on the day; PPE Pack: $10.00 (face mask, spectacles and ear plugs), cotton work gloves: $5.00
- Pen or pencil to take notes, paper supplied,
- Leather work books, preferably steel capped,
- Cotton work clothes,
- Long hair tied back and fingernails trimmed.
Filtered water and kitchenette facilities available
